Credit card required for 75 yo to buy a hand saw.

I have been a member of Ebay since 2003 and have 100%  feedback. I am 75 years old, trying to make a living doing odd jobs. I tried to buy a Bahco handsaw but was asked for a credit card to prove I was 18! I don't use a credit card. I have 2 debit cards, but they aren't allowed.  Why should I need to have a credit card to buy a saw? What does everybody think about this please? Thank you.

It's age verification for bladed items and ebay have decided the best way to do that is by credit card.   There is no other way so maybe you could ask a friend with a CC to buy it for you.
