Buying from Japan

Hello 

Does anyone have experience of buying items from Japan? How about vat? How about custom tax? I have enough of general info, I would like to know if someone have bought something from Japan in recent time and how it ended? My item I'm looking to buy cost £200.

I'd be very grateful for some real info. Thanks!

I have to add that this is about to buy from Japan to the UK.

You will be charged VAT plus any duty due and carrier handling fee , generally before delivery
