A buyer purchased an item in December but requested that I did not post until January as they would be away. They said in a message and on the order page to mark the item as being dispatched " to keep eBay off my back" which I did.
I went ahead and posted the item later as requested, along with a Royal mail tracking number. The item arrived and the buyer left positive feedback.
I have now discovered that It has been marked as a late delivery defect. I used the ebay help section to appeal the decision along with a copy of the buyers message and order page. The appeal was denied on the grounds that they can only remove the defect if the tracking shows as delivered on time. (which the latest tracking showed it was) Just not posted on time!
Having been unable to use live chat for some time now, the help section just has me going around in circles. Is there a direct number, email address or other method of contacting support?

You can use callback on here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid
For future reference, if a buyer asks for this again it's best to cancel/refund the current transaction and relist for them to buy/pay again nearer the time.

Thank you peaseblossom.
I spoke with a very helpful assistant (Kim) who has had the defect removed. I also mentioned the issues with live chat and after logging in to my account and seeing the issue for herself she has submitted a report to the tech department.
