Hi.
Why do I need to prove that I'm over 18 when my account is 21 years old?
I want to buy a tile cutter and apparently it's a 'bladed item', which is astonishingly stupid. Christ, I could do far more damage with the tile cutting frame than I could with a 15mm not very sharp wheel it's attached to.
If it's to prove that no one has stolen my account then how does anyone know that the person buying the super duper, very dangerous, tile cutter hasn't also stolen my card details? If they've got the smarts and gall to steal my account then getting my card details shouldn't be much more trouble. Also why go to all that trouble just to buy a tile cutter?
Yes, I'm annoyed, but mainly bamboozled at the stupidity of it all.
For brand new accounts, or for actual dangerous bladed items then I agree it's a good idea. But for tile, and presumably pizza and pipe, cutters etc then it's just restrictive and idiotic.
How do I get account age verified WITHOUT giving eBay even more if my data? For an account over two decades old it should be automatic.
I can buy a 'bladed' shovel from eBay with no issues, but not a tile cutter. Can anyone make it make sense?
Cheers.
