what are the e bay rules to safgaurd the seller ?
That's a very good question!
EBay claims that to claim a refund buyers must return their items in the condition supplied. It says so in their money back guarantee page, and also in their condition of items returned policy:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/money-back-guarantee.html
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/member-behaviour-policies/condition-returned-items-policy?id=47...
However, the problem is that eBay never even sees the item and doesn't know who's telling the truth. In that case, their policy is to find in favour of the buyer. Sellers often complain that eBay takes no notice of anything they say. Any number have told us that eBay has still made them refund buyers who have allegedly returned items that they have damaged, or even switched for another one.
All too often eBay buyers can simply run rings around the rules that are supposed to protect sellers. EBay has become a very risky place to sell things.
As you say none.....just as there are none in the same situation with any online or instore purchase
