The rules on picture content say that I can't add text or marketing to a picture.
In the past, if I've had something to sell in which is was helpful to show an additional object that was not included in the sale, for example an accessory for an object where it would be useful to the buyer to see the item in context, I'd photograph the item in its context, then add text like '[object] not included, for illustration only'.
A concrete example might be a dedicated flashgun, shown attached to the camera is to be used on, or a tele-extender attached to the lens it was specifically designed for, or a wide-angle attachment designed for a specific camera model. I'd then layer a text on the illustrative object saying 'camera not included in sale', and so on, just for the avoidance of doubt or confusion.
There must be many other examples where this would be helpful to prospective buyers to know that something really fits. Does the eBay policy on pictures now prevent me doing this kind of thing? Are there acceptable ways of handling this situation?
I don't wany anyone who buys anything from me to be misled in the way that I once was.
No text or marketing generally means a business name/logo/flag etc
BUT
As the photo makes up part of the item description the image should never include anything other than what is actually included as part of the purchase
