eBay Security Process Needs Urgent Investigation

eBay userid ********* has been hacked and pages and pages of classic car listing have been posted using their ID. I reported an identical deception last night, all credit to eBay, within a short time of me reporting the scam the listings were all pulled.

eBay told me they have automatic tools and people looking out to prevent fraud. Good I thought, so why then only 24 hours latter has exactly the same scam been missed?

It's not really eBay's security that's the issue, it's the users who allow their accounts to be compromised.

That said, you're quite right, eBay fall ridiculously short on acting on reports from users about hijacked accounts.

The scam that you're talking about is new to you but has been an ongoing problem on this site and autotrader amongst others for over 15 years.

When it first started happening teams of eBay community members used to sit and report the ads 24/7. One, a poster called lemon, wrote a guide warning people about it. Since then, eBay and autotrader, along with action fraud have pages devoted to warning buyers but still the scam continues.
