The first time I have ordered from abroad, but now have a £15.00 customs bill to pay on an item from USA worth not much more than that. The seller has been very abrupt 'your problem.' Is there any way to ensure against this or do I need to avoid buying from abroad? Thanks
Hi
I must admit if that was the sellers response then it was a little abrupt.
If you are thinking of buying an item from abroad then you must check the listing carefully as it may well say that customs fees/import taxes may also be payable. Just underneath where it tells you what the postage will be.
Import taxes are nothing to do with the seller and these are taxes that your country charges for letting the item into it.
If you buy goods from another country you are responsible any import fees.
If you fail to pay these, you invalidate ebay MBG.
