buyers package was damaged by a forward carrier after it was delivered to third party carrier by DPD

Buyers item was damaged by  the carrier they chose to deliver the item to Germany, from the address i sent the parcel to in Lirchfield in the UK. They want to return this damaged item for a full refund from me. Told them to claim off the carrier they used to transport this Hot Tub Pump Fromthe UK to an address in Germany

What can i do,  i dont want it back and dont see why i have to pay for the damaged caused by the forwarding carrier
