asked to leave positive feedback before i get a refund

Hi everyone im trying to get help from eBay but no way of contacting them.

I bought an item that the seller put the wrong address on meaning someone else got it not me, royal mail have signed for it at the wrong address. I tried several times to get to other address but no answer.

The seller has become stroppy and very cheeky on replies I have asked for a refund as they can attempt to get item back as not my concern for their error.

I have now been told that i wont get refund unless i leave false positive feedback, surely this isn't how eBay works?

Its essentially blackmail in order to get my money back!

No, it isn't. This is a good example of why it's better to use the procedures that eBay provides rather than trying to negotiate with the seller.

When you don't receive an item you can open a case under eBay's money back guarantee, through the resolution centre: https://resolutioncentre.ebay.co.uk/ Be sure to follow the procedure correctly and escalate it for eBay to step in if the seller doesn't respons promptly to offer a refund.

The important point in your case will be whether the seller send it to the address provided by eBay. If the mistake was theirs, they will be responsible for refuding you. If the address provided by eBay was incorrect the question will be whether eBay made a mistake or your registered address was incorrect.

For information about eBay's money back guarantee, see: https://pages.ebay.co.uk/ebay-money-back-guarantee/. Better still, read the full terms and conditions here: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/money-back-guarantee.html

Do you really think with a seller like this it would make a scrap of difference if you left a positive. You still wouldn't get a refund.

Have  you opened a NOT RECEIVED CASE as the only defence a seller can offer is proof of delivery to the address advised to the seller by ebay. Sending to the wong address is seller error.
