I have an pending order in a UK Ebay shop to purchase goods to be sent to Australia.
I agree that will have to pay Australian GST . At checkout the UK Ebay system is not reducing the amount for the UK VAT even though goods are to be forwarded to an Australian address. The seller has advise me to communicate with UK Ebay chat line. I did this for over 2 hours yesterday,spoke to sveral people and got absoluley nowhere so check out at 12:20 am and went to bed.
I should not have to pay VAT as well as GST.
Any assistance would be most welcome

Australia based/UK registered account ... consider contacting CS to request a transfer of account registration to .com.au site ? ... you have been caught with both Australia GST and UK VAT import fees.
Currently, even if item/seller location is in the UK, if either the buyer or seller
is/are registered/based anywhere outside theUK, it will trigger the additional 20% VAT import fee >
