Unauthorised transaction

Hi , im having a major issue, I tried to purchase an item for £45 today and pay for it with PayPal via the buy it now button . Then I got a message saying the transaction failed so enter another payment option , I then went to a different item for £8 and bought it with no issue through PayPal. I then went back to the £45 item and tried again , got the same message saying choose another payment option , I clicked on the PayPal menu to check the right card was linked, as it was I went back and tried once more but again got the same message , that the payment was unsuccessful and to check payment method. About 30 mins later I was doing some online banking and I noticed 3 pending payments for £45 from the same seller . Now the item isn't in my purchase history or on my PayPal history yet the 3 £45 payment are showing on my bank with the reference * paypal@wangyan197........please help

Ring your bank asap and tell them to put a stop on the payments.

Theres no one to talk to at the bank at the moment except the stupid automated service

There won't be anyone there now. You may have to wait until Monday morning.

If you have a Debit or Credit Card issued by your Bank, it will usually have a 24 hour helpline number showing on the reverse of the card.

The 24 hour number on the back of the card is lost or stolen cards only unfortunately, that was the first number I called

I'm just extremely confused as to how the payments were taken at all , I only have PayPal as a payment option linking to eBay so how is it possible for payments to be taken without leaving any sign of it on the purchase histories

That is odd. You could try ringing Paypal tomorrow or Monday. Click on Contact Us at the bottom of page in your Paypal account, then click on subjects until the Call Us link shows up. Best of luck.

Multiple payments seems to be a recurring theme at the moment.

Notify your bank by all means, but you may not be able to stop the payments.

The important thing is to try to unravel the cause. We don't have enough information to determine whether this was a glitch or a fraud.

You can take some comfort from the fact that it's only your three payments of £45 that have been taken.This is more consistent with a glitch; if a PayPal account linked to your bank had been hacked they could have tried to empty your account.

The fact that the transactions don't appear in your PayPal account is the most worrying. You need to phone PayPal customer support asp.

Are you saying that the sale also doesn't appear in your eBay purchase history? It could be that ether the item or the seller has been removed. Check the seller's feedback page, this will show whether they are still a member.
