I'm feeling annoyed with myself because I recenty bought an item on eBay. It arrived today and had been bought on Amazon Prime and then despatched directly to me as a "Gift" from the seller. He only made £1.18p on the deal, less whatever commission eBay may have taken from him, so I can't see the logic of selling this way.
He does, thogh, now have my address! Should I be worried in any way?
This is not allowed.
EBay allows business sellers to fulfil orders by having items dispatched direct from a wholesaler.
They do NOT allow any seller to fill orders by purchasing them for delivery from any online retailer. (Although not named, especially not from Amazon, eBay's deadliest competitor!)
You can read eBay's full policy by going to Help & Contact at the top of the page, and entering "drop shipping" in the search field. I think there may be a link to report this.
By the way, if this seller is not registered as a business seller, they're breaking eBay's rules - and the law. Buying to resell is a business activity. Private sellers on eBay are limited to selling their own, unwanted possessions.
If you have to return it for any reason, remember that you must return it to the eBay seller's registered address, through eBay's resolution centre. EBay would require postal tracking proof that you had done this. Don't be talked into returning it to Amazon - your contract was with the seller. If they then want to return it to Amazon, that's up to them.
Anyone you buy from has your address, but you could report him to Amazon for misuse of Amazon Prime. No idea how you do that though.
