I bought an item in April, tried to contact the seller, but no response. Started return and the ebay closed the request, even the seller not responded. Now, no way to start request again, and the ebay saying no money back guarantee with this item, even the guarantee was there when I bough it.
What can I do with this?
EBay's money back guarantee only lasts for 30 days after delivery. They won't get involved in warranties or faults that occur in use. PayPal buyer protection lasts for 180 days, but only covers faults present on delivery. If you used another payment provider you can check their terms and conditions.
Otherwise, any responsibility now rests with the seller. If they're a UK business seller you have your statutory consumer rights, but enforcing them for items bought on eBay can be difficult or impossible. Even manufacturers' warranties are liable to be invalid for items bought here.
If it's worthwhile, you can consult trading standards or citizens advice, or consider using the small claims court or the Courts and Tribunals internet-based money claim service: https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome.
These are the risks of buying from unknown sellers online. EBay is not like the shops.
