Schilling

For the second time this week someone waited till last minute and left me no time to respond. Tonight was worse as it came up Id won and while I waited for Pay now to come up instead it said sorry you ve missed out this time. Firstly how can they put you ve won if someone has bid on time. I feel like removing ebay app as once was bad but to be told you ve won and one full minute later saying sorry you ve missed out is way below the belt. Totally gutted and angry.

Just to clarify -

What you are describing"someone waited till last minute and left me no time to respond" is snipe bidding. bidding at the last possible second.

"Schilling" schill bidding is illegal - that's when a seller arranges for the item price to be artificially inflated by another account[s] bidding and have no intention of winning.

schilling is when the seller gets someone to push the price up to your max and you win the item at that price

what you are describing is 'sniping' where a bidder waits until the last moment to bid,

schilling isn't allowed,

sniping is allowed,

ebays software can't cope when bids are placed in the last miliseconds of a listing and the underbidder gets the 'you've won' notification when in fact they have been outbid,

because ebay has a set finishing time you should decide the maximum you are willing to pay, the absolute max, not the 'I might bid higer' max,

then place that as your bid close to the end of the auction

ebays auto bid system then bids for you until you either win or are outbid

it can happen when bidsare placed in the last few seconds. Shill bidding is perfectly legal, that is the whole point of a last second bid which means there is no time for anyone to come back with a higher bid.

Why don't you use shill bidding or bid higher? It is always  the highest bid that wins, not the last.

Not schill bidding.

Winner used a sniping website to put bid in at last second,

it is highest bid that wins, not the last, best to put your max bid in, then if you lose, someone was willing to pay more.
