Scam Sellers

What do you do if you come across SCAM sellers.  We have found two listings on ebay where several items of expense are listed cheaply, i.e a £10,000:00 caravan listed at £5,000:00. in the first instance we contacted the seller regarding a caravan, as soon as we contacted them, they made their listings disappear completely. When I asked why their listings had been removed, they said they had problems with their Ebay account and that they had been in touch with Ebay and everything had been sorted out and that the item was still for sale. they even offered to deliver the caravan at their expense. anyway to cut a long story short...........

They put expensive items up for sale as soon as someone contacts them via text message (when they reply via email there is NO email address just a name) they remove ALL traces of the item but still insist it is for sale. they then tell you everything will go through Ebay and Paypal and that the two said companies have OK'd the transaction. They do EVERYTHING they can to get you to pay for the item via Paypal and there goes your cash because they do NOT send the item to you. don't forget they are having it delivered at their expense so no need to collect, no need for an address. I have tried to report this activity  Ebay, but I have failed or should I say Ebay have FAILED.

Unfortunatley I have had to attatch this comment to the bottom because I can't find a "REPLY" link.

Pixiesen2012.

you are quick to defend Ebay and perhaps to quick in reading my post. I didn't say Ebay removed the item, I said the SELLER removed the items, because they use several items to catch an unsuspecting buyer.

No I didn't buy any of the items because I'm not "DAFT" , but I'm NOT INSENSATIVE either as you seem to be and forget that there people amongst us that aren't quite as CLEVER as you and need a little help, in which CLEVER people should be offering as much of as they can instead of INSULTING them

But I appreciate your sympath in the matter.

There are scams everywhere on eBay, and I would agree that eBay doesn't do enough to find and remove them, or to warn buyers of the risks.

That said, buyers are their own worst enemies. Some will pay thousands of pounds to a complete stranger for cars, camper vans and caravans they haven't even seen. And without once even checking whether eBay's money back guarantee will cover them (it doesn't). Or they fall for lies promising that eBay will hold their payment safely, but don't bother to check whether this is true (it isn't).

There is a limit to what eBay and PayPal can do to protect buyers who make so little attempt to protect themsleves.
