Someone has bid £210 pounds on an auction that will only give a box. It does specify in the description however I do not want someone to loose a lot of money and due to the current number of bids I feel it could only go up. Is there a way to contact the bidder?
Good of you to be concerned but it is really down to the Bidders to read the Description. It clearly states BOX ONLY. The Description is very upfront. You can Report the Item from the Link on the Listing Page for being Listed under the Incorrect Category.
There is no way to contact the buyer. All you can do is report it, using the link in the listing (on the right, level with the payment and postage tab).
I have reported it too, so let's hope that two reports will be enough to get it removed. Don't count on it, the buyer will say it's exactly as described.
Will eBay remove it? It's a disgraceful scam which targets buyers who don't bother to read the description, or whose first language is not English. EBay should remove immediately, even if it means losing its £20 selling fee. Let's hope so, it has over a day left to run, which should be plenty of time to remove it before someone ends up paying almost £200 for an empty box.
Severalbid retractions sosome have read. However any buyer could open a Not As Described caseand win. Buyers do it all the time, even though not appropriate so with a deliberate attempt to defraud I doubt that seller would even attempt to argue his case.
I suspect that theaccount has been hacked as the account has been inactive for some time so seller would also besubject to a 21 day hold giving any buyers more time to open a case for a refund.
I've reported it too, I think there is a clause called 'With intention to defraud' which this seller is counting on. He knows very well that most unsuspecting buyers won't read the description and he's counting on ebay being complicit with his fraud.
