RE: Package not delivered [Incident: 191214-018138]

This is an issue that all ebay members need to be made aware of if intending to use ebays Global Shipping Program, I have recently sold a classic M/cycle rear wheel and hub assembly to a gentleman in Norway, my client purchased ebays GSP and was charged the usual exhorbitant price for doing so, this was purchased on the 18th December and collected by the 21st for forwarding to Pitney Bowes GSP in Staffordshire for processing its onward delivery, about a week later I received a communication that the parcel was in their possession and being processed for onwaed delivery. A couple of weeks passed by and ebays tracking showed 'delivered'. My client was shocked at this information as this could not be further from the case. He started making enquiries with the registered carrier DHL, they informed him that had been held up because of total lockdown at the channel crossings, and that inquiries be referred back to Pitney Bowles. Their response as follows.

Thank you for your inquiry. Due to Pitney Bowes being an Intermediary between your Merchant and the Carrier only, we are unfortunately unable to further assist.

Please advise that during these unprecedented times, packages may be delayed in transit. Please allow additional time for packages to be delivered as we are experiencing volume well above what typically occurs during Holiday Peak due to an increase in online retail as well as safety concerns stemming from the ongoing health crisis. The most recent tracking information will be available at pitneybowes.shipment.co/track. For the additional information or resolution to your issue, you will need to contact your Merchant directly.

Kind regards,

Rebecca

Pitney Bowes Client Services

What a cop out, they will take your money for a 'service that they do not provide' because they are only an 'intermeadiary' and would appear take absolutely no responsibily at all for your parcels, thats all the help you will get folks!

I have instantly removed GSP from my site as I find other courier services far cheaper and considerably more efficient, So my client and I are both left out in the cold waiting to see what happens next.

Fortunately ebay are making their own investigations into this case and I believe they are prepared to refund my client in full if this parcel can not be found, so hats off to them!

Peronally I find the whole Pitney Bowes saga abysmal and would certainly never again trust their involvement in handling another parcel of mine.

On the ebay policy for GSP the seller is not responsible for items that go missing after they arrive at the hub

The buyer opens a not received dispute and the seller replies making sure ebay know it was GSP

If the buyer opened dispute then it is then up to ebay to sort out

See the ebay policy for GSP
