Payment status issues

I bought & paid for an item with my debit card on 23rd June as I have lots of times before, including many times recently & a couple of times since without any problem. However, the seller is saying ebay is telling them the payment is outstanding. When I look at 'purchases' that too says not paid, but when I click 'pay now', the payment details come up as if I have paid by debit card on 23rd June. The ebay assistant is no use in this case & no one at ebay has responded to me. The payment was well over £100, so not a small amount. I've been using ebay for over ten years but this is causing me to look elsewhere.

My guess is that this seller is now on eBay's new managed payments system. Under this system, the buyer pays eBay, and eBay - eventually - sends the payment to the seller, less their fees.

Most sellers hate this new system as eBay can take several days to send them payments that they used to receive immediately. EBay says that they should still deliver the item as soon as eBay tells them that the buyer has paid, but many are still reluctant to post items until they have been paid.

I think it's an example of the near war that seems to be developing between eBay and some sellers that eBay now entitles buyers to treat any item that arrives late as not as described, and to return it at the seller's expense for a full refund. I think that both eBay and its sellers should consider that the only winner in this dispute will be Amazon Prime.
