Payment Dispute from a user no longer registered

A buyer (john_249542) joins ebay on July 10th this year, buys a blu-ray from me on July 12th & pays.  I post the item standard 2nd class.

Today, I get a 'Payment Dispute' saying he hasn't received it.  Naturally, I go & check his feedback to see if he's done this to anyone else, & hey, he's no longer a registered user.

This is clearly a scam, but under ebay's wonderful new 'improvements', I get 2 options:  Upload a tracking number or give him a refund.   There's no way of putting my case forward to ebay, & as he's no longer registered, there's no way of contacting the buyer to ask what's going on.

Is there else anything I can do?

You put the tracking or 16 digit code from your Post office receipt onto the dispute

If you have them you can check to see if the item was recieved or not.

If you did not send tracked or it was an envelope rather than a packet with no code then you lose the dispute

Those are the rules
