Offers being made on items viewed.

I recently made an offer on an item and recieved what I thought was a counter offer on my mobile phone. I was happy with the price so I accepted it and immediately paid. It was only later that I realised that the offer I received was from the seller of an item I had only viewed, not even added to my watch list. I will now have to return the item which is inconvenient to me and the seller. I do not appreciate being contacted by sellers of items I have only looked at. How is this possible and why is it allowed ? I understand that this situation is my own fault for not reading the offer properly but I do not want to be contacted by sellers simply because I have viewed their items. Does anyone know how I can block these offers ?

Is automatic. Sellers sign up to Ebay sending out Offers, whenever a Buyer just casually Views an Item. You can Set your Notifications from  Communications under the Account Drop Down Tab.
