I recently sold an item to an international buyer for £114.50, including postage. I used EBay's Global Shipping option so the postage cost from my end was only to the shipping hub in the UK.
The seller has stated the item is faulty, which I wasn't aware of, and has opened a returns request and he wants a refund of £152.67, which is £38.17 more than I received in the sale.
I have messaged the buyer to ask why the difference but he hasn't yet responded. I am assuming it is because of import charges or some other charge imposed by Ebay's Global Shipping?
I have no use for the item and have told him he can keep it. I have no problem refunding what I received for the sale but am I duty bound to refund the extra £38.17 that he is claiming?
If they have opened a dispute then you have to make sure ebay know it was on GSP.
YOu only pay back the original payment which was with the postage to the UK hub

Buyers do not WANT a figure, they get what you refund through the case after item has been returned.
It is possible that due to exchange rates you will end up paying more than you received.
I suggest you read how Global shipping works so that you follow the correct procedure for a return. Buyer would have paid some high figure for the service of GSP but that must be refundable by them, not you.
That is why it is so important that you deal with the case correctly.
