How can i retrieve previous messages?

I never realized that my messages would be deleted automatically on my ebay account?! I have now lost contact with many people that i have bought and sold to and don't really understand why this would be an automatic feature? Now i just have a load of messages from ebay but nothing actually useful to me...very gutted and frustrated at this useless function. It should be opposite way round where if we want messages deleting then we select that option and if ebay wants to keep spamming us with offers then maybe have a seperate email box for them which can be auto deleted?

Can anyone advise, if there is any way at all for me to retreive previous messages? No, i did'nt archive them as i did't think i needed to and that anyone would be deleteing them 😞 

The only thing i can think of is trying to look through my purchase history someone and do it that way? If that hasn't be removed as well.

messages are removed after 6 months,

ebay don't want you to keep in contact with people you have traded with,

why do you need to contact previous buyers or sellers?

all messages are forwarded to your email address, so you should have copies of them there.

Hey Pixiesen, Thank you for your reply. I tend to make good friends on sites like ebay and because we are not able to give any other form of contact out then this is a great way to keep track of people that you have connected with over time. In this particular case it was a lovely older lady who was going through some issues with doggo and i wanted to check in with her to make sure she was ok and see how things were. But anyway yes, good point about copies being sent you your personal emails. I did realise that until some time ago now too so i just use that if they have been deleted after the 6 months.
