I sold a generator on auction for £285 on 05 March 2021, and the payment was made by the buyer via PayPal. 10 days later he disputed that the generator was not as described in my advert. We could not resolve the matter between us, so I advised him to go through the proper channel.
As far as I know the issue was pending and PayPal had my payment on hold. Now it appears the payment has been refunded to the buyer without my knowledge, and my generator whichbI sold in good faith has not been returned. Please advise.
If it was done through eBay contact them direct about it. Go to the bottom of this for live chat and phone options:

If your buyer opened a case against you in the Resolution Centre and you did not respond within 3 days, what has happened is the eBay default response.

eBay cannot force a buyer to return an item, but if you did respond to a case with “Return for a full refund” eBay should block a refund until the item has been returned or at least posted with fully tracked postage.
