I am relatively new to eBay. It is, of course, a pretty complicated system and you ‘learn as you go along’.
I don’t pack items before they sell (partly because they might NOT sell, partly to allow for potential consolidation of more than one item in a shipment and partly because I’m lazy!) so I haven’t been filling in the ‘weights and measures’ part of the eBay ‘posting’ forms so far.
Despite this, I have sold a few small items to overseas customers and have used the eBay GSP for those successfully.
However, I recently ‘sold’ a big/bulky item to an overseas customer and, when coming to pack it, I discovered that it exceeded the eBay size/weight limit. I won’t bore you with the resulting fun and games, but this gives rise to two questions I would be grateful for help on:
1 How on earth could eBay have calculated the GSP part of what the overseas customer pays, if I hadn’t added the size & weight to the listing?!
2 I now realise that it would be useful if I could ‘pick and choose’ which items go into the GSP system when posting an ad on eBay. I have already deleted ‘undesirable’ countries from my ‘GSP Sell To’ list overall. However, there is similar option at the bottom of the standard ‘listing’ form (reflecting the choices already made) – if I edit that FURTHER there, am I changing the overall setting or does it just apply to that ONE item?!
Help on this would be appreciated – thanks!
