I sold an item sadly the item was dropped on the way to the post office so never left me. I contacted eBay as the buyers payment was on hold. I was told the funds would be released in 24/48 hours. That time had passed and the funds were still on hold. I opened a cancellation of sale and it wants me to refund out of my bank account which I don't have that amount of money. Again contacted ebay and they said the hold on the funds would be released as soon as I refunded again told them I can't as I do not have the money I never had the funds. Advised to get the buyer to open an item not received case but they opened and item arrived damaged case. Luckily the tracking shows it's never been dropped off at the post office. I'm now advised to wait until the 15th apparently time to get it sent back 🤦🏻♀️ as that's why the money is on hold again told them the funds were on hold from the moment they paid. I've still to wait until the 15th then they will assist with removing the hold so I can complete the refund 🤬 seriously they've got the payment I've never had it the item never got sent so they just need to send the funds back to her
If only you had done it all correctly!
The time to cancel was as soon as it was broken, when you could with the buyers agreement have cancelled the sale using "Buyers Request" as the reason. That would have refunded the "Blocked Money".
The moment any case is opened, the money is frozen so that it is available to meet any refund which has to be made. If done correctly it would all be sorted out by now.
Why can't a refund be made through the case? That is what the "frozen" money is held for.
I am afraid that ebay promises to release money is so much Hot Air, it is released by making the refund through the "Case " opened by the buyer, which is the correct case.
If ebay released money on the strength of telephone calls, it would defeat the object of Freezing Money in the first place.
This is the thing I did cancel it straight away but as I hadn’t sold for a while the funds were put on a hold until the buyer had received the item which obviously wasn’t going to happen. I was told opening the cancellation SHOULD have unfrozen the funds but it didn’t. I did everything I was instructed to do by eBay but I never received the funds due to the hold and I cannot refund what I don't have. So what I'm saying is the hold was on there prior to the cancellation request so I did do everything correctly
