The follwoing issue proves to me that there's something wrong with how eBay CS handles selle/ buyer issues
I sold a rare pair of trainers a few weeks ago which was dispatched via eBay global shipping. The delivery has been confirmed. Yet, a few days later without any prior communication (not even a case /claim opened) , the buyer based in Japan leaves feedback stating -
'I bought cheap shoes very expensive. The seller is a malicious person.'
The shoes, were still brand new , very desireable, long out of print and very rare. Which will obviously command a preinum price. I use eBay's Global Shipping for international buyers/ transactions, which probably indicates that the buyer paid international shipping costs and taxes on top of the price paid to me.
I must also clarify and confirm I have never had any communication with the buyer prior to leaving feedback.
So in repsonse,
I call eBay and they state there's nothing i can do about, except to complete the defamation process which removes the comment yet still leaves the negative defect on my feedback page.
I find this outrageous that a buyer decides of their OWN free will to purchase a BIN item. Then comments they are unhappy about the price paid.
I REPEAT THERE WAS NO COMUNICATION WITH BUYER PRIOR TO PURCHASE.
So,
Yesterday I made numerous calls and spoke to 5 agents (2 of whom cut me off) and latterly 2 supervisers. But I've have hit a brick wall over CS agreeing to remove this feedback /defect. They suggest I talk to the buyer directly to address the issue. During which the buyer clarified that he ojected to the item being 4 times the original list price, even after I advised as stated in the lsiting ' the item is out of print and very rare'. In itself communicating with the buyer was a painful experince, with mainly one line responsses, the result of which which the buyer advised not interested in discussing further.
So today ,
I've just called them again only for the CS rep who of course cannot make any rational decsion because they have literally been shackled to the seller/buyer guidelines verbatim. So of course I ask for a supervisor for which I'm told the wait is up to 24 hours
Is there anything else I can do to get this resolved to my satisfaction?
Is there anything else I can do
I doubt it. EBay's policy is not to remove feedback unless it contravenes their rules over what can be said, which this doesn't.
I agree that this sounds like a classic case of buyer remorse, especially if Japanese import duties were added to the cost. If it's any consolation, it's better than having the buyer claim that the trainers were not as described in some way, in which case eBay would have accepted the buyer's word without question and required you to refund them. They may even have told you that if you wanted the trainers back it was up to you to somehow arrange and pay for the return postage from Japan, as they are currently requiring a seller to do from America.
The fact is that many of eBay's policies are weighted heavily in favour of the buyer. This has become a very risky place to sell anything of value.
