EAN NUMBER REVISING A LISTING WITH VARIATIONS

This post concerns trying to revise a listing with variations. All mine were acccepted and posted without an EAN number. When I tried to revise the listings it kept saying the "EAN field is missing". There are several notes indicating you can add an EAN field but absolutely no instructions anywhere. This was in fact wrong you do not have to add an EAN field at all.

When I went to the revise variations page under EAN there was a drop down saying "Enter EAN number" no other choice. As I have no EAN number, all my items are hand made, I was stuck. I tried looking for an EAN for similar items, entering  Nil, entering 0 etc ETC and nothing worked. I eventually, by accident, hit on the answer. I had to manually enter "does not apply" then I could go ahead and revise the listing.

All this work and faffing was totally unecssary. The listings were accepted without an EAN and there should have been no neccesity to bring up the whole matter again when revising an item.
