Can I sell an item that is broken

I have a bad Hoover which is broken ( cable was hoovered up and is down to copper wire) which I wonder if I'm able to sell it for parts only due to the cable

please advise

Personally I would take it apart and sell the parts seperately. That way no one will expect to get a working hoover.
