Buyer responsibility

Dear Sir/Madam, recently I sold a keyboard in perfect condition and I listed it for collection but the buyer turn back to me by sending his own courier, I think that the buyer should take full liability of the item, since he decided to send his own courier on behalf of him, instead of collecting the item

. I listed my used keyboard which was in perfect condition, with a reasonable price for quick sale , since I wasn’t in need of it anymore . That’s why I clearly stated that ; “Keyboard to be Collected to avoid hassle and damages” Since the keyboard is heavy. I did confirm with the buyer , that this item was for collection only, however he sent his own courier, which I wasn’t too keen on but since that was his decision, he should be aware and take full responsibility on the matter. I did my best to pack up the keyboard, since the keyboard didn’t have its original box, bearing in mind that I have sold a keyboard in the past to Portugal, in which the buyer organised his own courier to collect the item, and the item arrived safely, therefore I have all my items up for collection, since I have 100% feedback. From the pictures, you could tell that the item was very new fresh damages and if there were any scratches, I would’ve made it aware in the description of the item. Please refer to the messages between the both of us, via ebay messages

The ebay money back guarantee does not cover items collected by a third party. See this section of the MBG:

Items collected by a third party on behalf of the buyer

Not covered

The buyer arranged their own delivery method, such as a courier pickup

Not covered

Here is the link to the MBG so you can check for yourself

In other words your buyer has no access to the ebay money back guarantee because they sent a courier  instead of collecting in person.

For once, it's good news. By sending a courier instead of collecting the item in person your buyer has rendered the item ineligible for eBay's money back guarantee. PayPal buyer protection excludes items sold for collection.

There is no-one here from eBay. We are just other members like yourself, and cannot see the messages you refer to.

The position when items are sold for colelction is set out fully here: http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/money-back-guarantee.html

if a buyer uses their own carrier to collect they void any buyer protection.
