Hello eBay Community,
I would appreciate your help with the following. At the beginning of May, I sold some Lego bricks for £0.99 and posted them as a small parcel as standard second class delivery. While I got proof of posting at the time, I usually throw them away after a couple of weeks in the assumption that people would have got in touch if they hadn't received the item within that time.
Today, I received an email from the buyer telling me that they didn't think they had received the item; this is 57 days after posting. This was followed by an email from eBay saying that the funds would be withheld. I found the letter surprising, given that the eBay buyer policy states: 'You have 30 days from the estimated delivery date to inform the seller that you didn't receive your item. '
Could anybody please shed light on the situation, particularly whether I would need to refund the seller? If the case was decided against me, would there be any point in appealing the decision? Any insights would be much appreciated.
Thank you; I look forward to your response.
That is correct that the buyer has 30 days to open a dispute so should not win the case
However when you post an item then you should put the 16 digit code onto the item straight away and you should also keep receipts/tracking for at least one year in case of chargebacks.
If they lose this case and paid by paypal then they could possibly still open the dispute there and win if there is no tracking/code
