Bid in error

Hi ...bid for a large heating tank and I'm winning. Have realised that it won't fit but now 9 hours till auction over. I am the only bidder. Do I pay (it's only a few pounds). I don't want to pick it up as I will have to rent a trailer or van ...happy to give seller the money but don't want it...ideas please.

It is too late to retract a bid as there are less than 12 hours to go unless it is less than 1 hours since you places your bid

Your reason is not one of the three allowed

Contact the seller and apologize and ask them to cancel the bid

They dont have to 

If you win ask them to cancel the transaction 

Again they dont have to 

If they dont then it is up to you

If you pay then you can just tell the seller you do not want it

If you dont pay then you would get a non payment strike on your account

One will not harm too much but two or more would stop you from buying off many sellers

Thanks…happy to give the seller the money as compensation but don’t want to pick up…am I liable for disposal/ pick up?

probably, the seller is selling it because they don't want the expense of disposing of it!

You need to try the other options first but one non payment strike will not do too much harm. Whichever way you go it is not really fair on the seller. Have you asked them to cancel the bid?.
