Frosties served... January 2nd Solutions

Frost > Hint: Chill > Big Chill > Prize Listing: University of Michigan American Football Jersey (genuine)

Two routes to this one: the simpler, a need for a jersey to stay warm when the chill set in. For the more complex one, julesjules0103 was on the case (as was radioshed, once again), identifying ‘The Big Chill (1983) Tom Berenger & Glenn Close’ which as whatitsaysonthetin pointed out involves a situation where ‘Seven former classmates from the University of Michigan gather for the funeral of Alex, their idealistic and suicidal friend… Believe it or not I had other words (actors names etc.) from that idea listed!’ Ah well: the next hunt, perhaps.

godsmack_goth was close as well: ‘makes sense now........i was so gonna check details of that movie too.’ puk1002 figured it in the string ‘(cold*, de-icer, deicer, jersey, scraper, radiator)’ admitting ‘I just put it in as i was sitting here freezing and picked one up lol’.

Frost > Hint: Touch > Touch of Frost > David Frost – TW3 > Prize Listing: POLO SPORT 7526 TW3 AH POLARIZED METAL SUNGLASSES

julieebarlow was spot on with her analysis: ‘TW3 = That was the week that was. David FROST presented it. David Jason was a regular guest early in his career.’ So not much satisfaction for the Only Horses and Fools brigade I’m afraid.

Frost > Hint: Bite > Tony the Tiger (Frosties mascot) > Prize Listing: TIGGER SLIPPERS Size 7

simply_orange figured this one out, admitting “I give up. Time for some Frosties. There GGGGRRRRREEEEAAATTTTTTTT!” as did martinmother with her string ‘weather, frosty the snowman, frosties (they're grreat")’

The general toothiness of biting was worked out, again, by radioshed (bite> teeth > teething ring > dentist > dental > [and] bite > teeth > shark > jaws > open water >) and by a simply phenomenal set of strings by traxx_yorky (frost - bite - tooth - dentist - drill – tools, frost - bite - teeth - gnashers - dennis the menace – beano, frost - bite - teeth - buck – uncle, frost - bite - teeth - wisdom - norman - conquest - fridge – freezer, frost - bite - - teeth - teethe - cut – director, frost - bite - teeth - teething ring – dummy, frost - bite - teeth - armed to - weapons - guns etc, frost - bite - teeth - wisdom - words of - dictionary - thesaurus – encyclopedia, frost - bite - teeth - wisdom - leaning - school - books - robert frost). And people say I deserve a special planking?!

Frost > Hint: Frosting > Sugar > Prize Listing: GLAMOUR ROCKS CD - TOM JONES, ASH, SUGABABES, MOBY, ETC

Apart from Grumpy-Old-Men style remarks from Forum_Lurker that the ‘Suga’ in Sugababes was mis-spelled, this one was acknowledged as fairly straightforward. 67rbh67 figured that ‘frosting on a cake is done using icing sugar and a sieve’ as did webwey: ‘you can also do frosting round the top of glasses with sugar’ (which would have helped with the next clue).

claire738 was there too: ‘frost-frosting-cake-sweet-alabama-Reese Witherspoon-sugar-Mary Poppins-umbrella’ while traxx_yorky was back in the saddle again with another ball of strings: ‘Frost - Frosting - Icing - Sugar - Sugar Ray Leonard – Boxing, Frost - Frosting - Icing - Cake - Sponge - Second – Boxing, Frost - Frosting - Topping - Trees - In the Trees – Golf, Frost - Frosting - defrosting - the refrigerator (chicago bears/bulls I think) - American Football, Frost - Frosting - Icing - Gingerbread - Ginger McCain - Grand National winning jockey on Amberleigh - Horse Racing, The above are my initial thoughts on 'SPORTS' only themes.’ Forget sports, here comes the plank.

jaimejwalker was on it too: ‘How about: Frosting > icing > sugar > sugar bowl > super bowl’. The irrepressible traxx_yorky kept going: ‘frost - frosting - sugar - sugar and spice - the searchers - treasure hunters.... oh noooooooooooooooooo Iv'e disappeared up my own a**e.’ Indeed!

Frost > Hint: Crystal > Frosted Glass > (& Margaritas) > Prize Listing: Lalique Marguerite Perfume Bottle

A lot of people got to Lalique via Crystal, but the more roundabout route involved cocktails.

On which note, cheers! It’s been a real pleasure and I hope we all get to do this again soon.

:)
