Obsolete and Vulcanised

Vulcanised and Hardened (as in the treatment of rubber using sulphur to make the rubber harder and thus more durable)

(Good one - but in previous post I was thinking of the Vulcan bomber, which was deemed obsolete. The Harrier has also recently met the same fate - ie , been deemed obsolete. So couldn't it be described as "Vulcanised"?)

Hardened and Clotted
The dictionary definition of Vulcanised is "the process of treating rubber or rubberlike materials with sulphur at a very high temperature so as to improve elasticity and strength or in order to harden them." By the reasoning given in your question another word for "obsolete" could be "Harrierised", although there is no such word. Alternative definitions for Obsolete include Discontinued, Outdated, Superseded, etc. Therefore I wouldn't use the word "Vulcanised" to mean Obsolete just because a Cold War nuclear bomber happened to be called the Vulcan.
Anyway, back to the thread:

Yeah, it does get a bit tedious when the answers all appear to be near identical in some way. I prefer to mix it up a bit to avoid getting fed up and not bothering with the threads.
