i htried to do somthing this morning that i have not done in many many years i tried to claim job seekers allowance..
1 .. drive to town and pay 2 hours parking as i did not know how long it woul take..
2.. go in job center at 9 o clock as doors open man says you have to go home and do it on line, exit job center 9.01 2 hours parking wasted....
3... go home log into where i have to log into and start a very very long form it says about an hour to fill in...
4... i get about 50 mins in and it asked something about oh;s pension that i did not know answer to.( he is gone out)so wrote down my unique number and put pass word in twice to fininsh it later
5..just gone back on line and put log in code and pass word in and it tells me i have to use a different browser so log out log in again and try again and after putting in code and password it does not recognise so try again it does not recognise so look for help page.
6.. help page says if you forget you code and password or if it does not work you have to start the whole application again from srcatch...

Does your mum need a lot of help books?
My dad got it when he couldn't look after himself any longer and he used it to pay for a cleaner.

I must admit CG, my mum's not too bad. She can look after herself to a certain extent. When she found out about the heart condition, she decided that she'd stop driving. Therefore, I have to sort out and collect her medication. I also have to take her for blood tests, doctor's and hospital appointments. At the moment, our GP's surgery is on the bus route for the bus that runs about a third of a mile away from us but it's walking to the bus stop. Very soon though, the surgery will be moving to a new build about a mile from us and that isn't on the bus route. To get to either of our hospitals would be a two bus job so it's far easier to go by car.
Cookie I have found out why they wouldn't allow the attendance allowance and it was because mum could dress herself. Hope that you have more luck with your claim.

What you do for your mum is what any daughter would do Chris. It's not 'caring' in the DWP meaning of the word. That would cover washing & dressing her, Toilet duties etc surely?

thanks books .i filled the bit in about dressing himself and at the moment he's ok except sock and shoes braces ties but he not far from being house bound without a wheel chair and then he will not be able to push himself so its me or nothing..so fingers crossed.

That's true Maggie over the Attendance Allowance. We were advised to put in a claim by our local Citizen's Advice Bureau which we obviously did. Never mind. At least we can and do manage. We have very good neighbours who help if and when needed.
