Laptop has thrown a fit and Outlook won't work, neither will Internet Explorer. Everything else seems fine, Firefox and Google Chrome are fine. Lappie runsWindows 7.
I have managed to set up all the email accounts on the spare lappie, copied all the data from the back-up etc., so am up and running. The "spare" lap-top is a bit slow and clunky, but I canlearn to live with that.
My problem is that there are about 130 email messages in the inbox and sent items folders that I cannot access as outlook won't run. I have tried repairing Office - no joy. I have tried removing and re-installing Outlook - no joy.
The program opens, but then gives an error message and shuts down.
In the good old days with Windows XP and Outlook Express, I could just have copied the inbox folder to a pen drive, copied it from the pen drive to the replacement laptop, repeated with the sent-items folder and all would have been well.
However, despite dilligent searching in the depths of the folders, I cannot find the appropriate inbox and sent items folders, much less copy them.
If anyone has any suggestions they would be warmly welcomed.

Things to do and in this order:
1. Open a command prompt using the "run as administrator option. Its the ugly black screen thing and if you click to see all programs, it should be there but maybe labeled cmd or cmd.exe. You get the "run as administrator" option if you right click the cmd icon.
- in the command window, key in chkdsk /f (note the space between chkdsk and /f) then press ENTER
- when you get the message that it can't be done right now, answer Yes to doing it at next reboot then reboot. It can take anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour for the process to complete.
2. Go to add/remove programs and open the one for Microsoft Office. One option will be to repair the installation. Use that one. You will need the install CD for MS Office to complete the process.
That should cure your problem. If not, please post back to the tech board - its in the Cafe section and you already have a topic open Outlook Help Needed.

Hi folks- your help is very much appreciated - if there is a delay before I get back to you it is because real life has sadly interrupted.
I followed the suggestions in the microsoft article re internet explorer. I turned off internet explorer 10 and downloaded i I.E. 10. Tried to install it and it refused to install as it said there is already a later version installed.
This is however a relatively minor inconvenience as Firefox and Google Chrome are working fine.
Outlook is now working - many thanks
