Streaky Computer Screen

My monitor is all streaky and blurry, this started about three days ago.

Does anyone know if this means the screen has gone wrong (I guess

it does mean that, but terminally wrong I mean).

have you put any magnets near it,  speakers?

what sort of monitor is it?  has it any settings that you can press to reset

No Towery, there aren't any magnets nearby.

It's an old computer, not laptop, and the adjustment buttons

don't seem to make any difference.

I seem to remember a phone one of us had doing that,

and the screen just packed up so the phone worked but

you couldn't see what you were doing.

Oh it is a flat screen, just not a particularly new one.  Not ancient, but four or five years

old perhaps.

Funny, I was just putting some photos onto computer and looking at them and they

were ok on the screen.  It seems to be stuff with writing, email, forums, ebay, facebook and that kind of stuff, oh and letters/writing in files etc.
