As most of you know my daddy died last year... but he hated fathers/mothers day or any other made-up days ....... he was Victor Meldrew when he went off on one...... about explotation of peoples affections to the benefit of the shops............ anyhoo.
For everyone who have their daddy still with them........... give them an extra special hug
For us that lost our Daddys........ I know x

he may have passed over Kate but he is always with you because you carry him in your heart and thoughts just like mine.

I lost my dad nearly 13 years ago, think about him pretty much every day but especially on days like today.
He wasn't one for being fussed over on Father's Day but we did anyway
Miss you dad x

In no way did I mean anything religious by my comment, I am not religious in any way either.
All I meant was your dad like mine is still with us because we miss them and they are always in our memories and in our hearts because they were our parents for good or bad.

I lost my dad Boxing day 2011, so sudden, and totally unexpected. When I see it is Fathers day I so miss buying him a card and present.
But just to sit quietly thinking back to all the lovely times, such fond memories too, makes him feel so close to me. It does help a lot.
Our resting in peace parents live on for sure in our memories and hearts forever.

It's a long time since I've had a Dad to wish a happy day to, and by coincidence it's also the anniversary of my Mum passing. Of all the parents in all the world, I'm so glad they were mine.

A bit late to make a comment on this subject perhaps, but I lost my father just four days before Christmas 1999. It was ironic because a surprise 90th. birthday party for January had to be cancelled, along with the cake and everything else. I never did give him a Father's Day card but he was always very pleased that my daughter always gave me one. He wanted his ashes to be scattered on the water at Beachy Head lighthouse. Faced with no headstone and every bit as practical as him, I bought a seat in his name at the start of the South Downs Way so he had the best of both worlds: the sea he loved and his beloved South Downs which he used to look at from his bungalow. I chose his epitaph carefully - 'Alive in our hearts forever.' because that's where he is. I'll wear his watch at Christmas and on his birthday but there's no nead to go down to Eastbourne to remember him.
I've gone very quiet now and will be for some time, so I'm glad there's nobody in the room at the moment as I'm typing this.
