Deno's Diary Part 3, A new Chapter

Deno (proper name De Novo) was adopted by FHG posters in 2005 when one of them, Shebalator, rescued him from slaughter.

Then - 700lbs underweight with a broken jaw and multiple other ills.

Photobucket

2008 - still struggling with sarcoids but finally fit enough to have a light rider up for the first time so he could
join his mates on a jaunt round the local lanes

Photobucket

2009 - due to sheb’s declining health, a new home was sought for Deno.
A very brave ebayer named upthecreekyetagain ( very apt name I think you will agree) agreed to take him on.
So, now Deno lives in Surrey with the Creeky family, plus 3 lovely mares. He has 5 acres of grass and orchards to roam in and is very happy.

Photobucket

His sarcoids still remain a problem, but a new vet is investigating them further to decide on the best course of palliative care.
Visits can be arranged, please contact Creeky for more info.

Deno is reliant on fundraising and donations for his food, medicines and all the things that make his world that bit nicer.

His in-depth story can be found on his website http://www.denorescuedhorse.co.uk/
and there is more info (including how you can join in and help him) on Elphaba’s Me Page.

This replaces his previous diary thread that had become too cumbersome to load.
And to mark the start of the next chapter of his life.

New Deno supporters always welcome!

evening, hope all is well in croakyland.

Had bad news about GG's mount, poor thing has a serious back problem, she had unknown history so it happened long ago but has just flared up, they are taking her to ossy ospital for xrays but the best prognosis is retirement with pain management.

Then this weekend will be out last one with our lovely Meo cat, his heart is too poorly and his breathing bad so we get to spend till monday with him then he will cross the bridge 😞

Bit late, but sorry to hear that Meo has crossed the bridge. Huggles to your little ones.

Was that the lady Vet I saw with the 'osses this afternoon?

Help someone in trouble and they will remember you the NEXT time they are in trouble!

Gosh, has it really been that long since I looked in 😞

I hope the sadness is easing a bit for GG now.   I have a rat steadily collecting ailments now he's an old lad so can hear the clock ticking for him.  He's a soppy old boy - it never gets any easier.

Anyway, I hope everyone is chipper and the equine horrors are behaving 🙂

evening , hope the croaksters are all well and being kepy busy by the terrific trio :).

Happier news here from GGs ossy world,  although the dales is off the riding list the lady had got a 11hh pony , GG needs to back it  and its gong to be a ride drive so this may be the one she can really get working with and hopefully show with at driving and riding.

They need a small but confident rider and thats my girl.

Still trying to talk myself into riding again, even been offered a horse to ride on, i am safer watching others ride, think I am like Deno, a bumblefoot Lol

Bumpety bump up the page!

It is so exciting this week.... all the MDCC parcels are arriving.  Lots of things bought and sold for the terrible trio (and other good causes of course).

Ringo's new bed arrived today (from Aunty Welshtoff) and it was supposed to be put away for his September holidays.  He won't give it back!!!  He is snoozing on it as I type!

I can't complain because he had to go on a long and hazardous journey to rescue a rabbit from Aunty Biker!  She held the rabbit to ransom for Chaldon!  TSK!!!

But the ransom was paid and the rabbit is rescued.  She is basking in the garden room!

I hope everyone and their animals are okay.

The next MDCC listing day is Sunday 31st July.  Can you start rooting around in your drawers to find items you don't need.  They might buy polos for *sshhhhh - you know who*

Borzoi, just been and read your update, and hairs came up on the back of my neck.  You know I planted the roses for Jacky, well, I also made a few more changes and planted other stuff in my little plot at the same time, and would you believe, part of it is a rockery, the rest of it is just dedicated to old fashioned wild flowers, to attract the bees and butterflies.  Take a look here;

The first one is how it started off (was a former old garage base) and the 2nd one is how it looks now 🙂

Deno's Diary Part 3, A new Chapter

hello all

firstly, hoping mrs creeky is on the mend,

secondly, hoping deno hasn't destroyed creekyland,

thirdly, huge thanks to everyone who did mdccs this month, geranne, your dosh has been gotted, many thanks x

fourthly, to hugs1234 ( i think) for the lovely donation and present for deno, it was very kind of you.

fifthly and finally, my chaotic life continues, mum is now in a nursing home, but is not settling well, which means i seem to be spending even more time with her than ever before, she has become extremely demanding, and nothing seems to please her, even the lovely staff at the home feel that they are  unable to do anything right for her. sadly i think that this stroke may have affected her mind after all, mum has never really been demanding or difficult in the past, perhaps it is just adjustment, which ever, it has been a huge burden for me and i am finding it all a bit of a struggle.

better news though, wenna and her little white endurance horse are hopefully off to wiltshire next month as part of the southwest team, just have to get them both to complete the ride this weekend and her place on the team will be gaurenteed,

the truck ( very old 4x4) has picked this week to blow up slightly, but have sorted something for this weekend,

it never rains but it pours !!

hoping all the lovely deno defenders are well and enjoying the fab weather, have managed to snatch a few hours in the garden, why do weeds grow so fast!!??

lots of love to all

xxxxx

hope all of you are well 🙂

I went shopping today, town was so full of foreign students I bought some pens and refused to enter another shop, even getting food was a nightmare,  shame they cannot use any English words unless they are swear ones, I dont like my daughter hearing them.

((((Gothic))))

This has all been so stressful for you.  A friend had a stroke 3 years ago and it did definitely affect his mind.  However, he got his driving license back after 2 years and he can now read books again - a few pages at a time.  His memory is still badly affected - so he often can't remember what he has just read :^O

I only say this to you so that you don't think that your Mum is necessarily 'stuck' in the state she currently lives with.  For some reason, stroke patients often forget their 'social graces' and become more critical, give inappropriate answers etc.  ANyway, I will hold you in my thoughts.

I am glad the money got to you - more karrits and polos eh?

If anyone wants to support MDCC but has a manic life (like many of us) it is possible to make a listing and schedule it 3 weeks in advance.  (I am currently listing for 31st July at 21.00 hrs) All you do on the day is revise it to start immediately and you even save the 6p schedule fee.  This method works for me.... I can often find half an hour beforehand but simply don't have minutes to spare on the actually listing day.

I hope everyone is fine and that creekyland isn't flooded with this torrential rain we are having.
