Just noticed on my credit card account 2 additional £1 charges being made, on the same days as 2 purchases were made....not refunded but left pending. !
I have just wasted two hours of my life speaking with both Paypal (who was used for purchases in question) and Ebay who seem unable to explain this given the card was A. used via Paypal where it has been verified and B. has been used numerous times previously....(though they are supposedly calling me back after 'investigating' further). I have made no recent changes atall and so assume this must be the bank in question strangely suddenly doing this for unknown reasons...wondering if anyone else on the other hand is experiencing anything similar. ?

It is a relatively new change by the credit card companies, the £1 isn't actually taken, and once done, it doesn't seem to be done again.

Oh how interesting....thanks. I had this twice on consecutive days so wondered if it was some glitch ?
I cant fathom quite why they would even do this when the card in question was verified in Paypal and has been used multiple times AND is nowhere near it's limit.
I think I will call em up tomorrow anyway and enquire. One wonders what will come next. I do notice more card companies are charging monthly fees than ever before. Massive amounts of fraud occurring I suppose.

If you do get a reasonable answer please do come back and tell us, as many have experienced this, and also baffled at this alleged verification for cards, which have been in constant use, with no change of detail from the owner, or no new card in use.
Thank you.

hi and so sorry to reiterate a thing that others have also experienced and presumably spoken about here. I saw one other but for some reason couldn't reply to it so posted my own moan 😋.
I agree it is odd behaviour by card companies and being the control freak I am I will discover what it's all about and certainly will return with an answer when I get one. J x

Absolutely no need to apologies! If an issue is repeated , it informs us that the problem has not been resolved.
Looking forward to your card companies reply, no point asking eBay, as the ' charge 'does not come from them.
One thing to be assured of , others who have had this charge say it is refunded quite quickly, as soon as the payment is processed successfully.

So....just spoke with Lloyds Bank who are as mystified as I am. They suggest this is some glitch given that it only usually occurs when you first use either the card or are new to ebay and making your first purchase.
I was advised to 'not give it another thought' and that it has not been charged against my card and will just remain showing as pending and will fall off eventually. Seems it may or may not reoccur but I think that is as far as I'm going to get. So suspect it eminated from either Paypal or more likely Ebay but will I suppose never know.
Not wholly satisfactory as far as I'm concerned but as much as I now know.

It comes from the credit card provider. It's them you need to ask.

Read my previous comment.

I did. Even if your bank provides the credit card you used, it's a different part of the banking organisation.
However, if you want to believe it's ebay or PayPal, both of whom have also denied it, please go ahead.

I have been reassured by the person I spoke to that I will not be charged (as mentioned) and so am no longer bothered and it is not a case of 'wanting to believe' or otherwise, rather being reassured that should such a debit ever be actually charged rather than merely remain as pending, I only need to call up and it will be sorted by them. It remains a mystery....
If you want to reply to a comment in such a condescending manner however, please go right ahead.

Yes I had that , several unexplained £1 charges left pending. I only found out through my bank. I phoned PayPal and Ebay, they had no explanation. I thought it must have been some sort of fraud. The money wasn't actually taken, but it still worries me. I hot no idea whst it could be it started on the 8.February and seems to be linked to me making ebay purchases.
I'm quite worried about it, especially since PayPal and ebay say they can't even see it on mu account.

I wouldn't worry . It only happened to me the once (or twice actually) but hasn't occurred again since....If I look in my online account for the credit card in question though it still shows as 'pending'. I guess that will disappear eventually...😊

Same here...anything slightly unusual surrounding cards and money is always worth looking into...there's so much fraud about now. 🤔

Hi again....Just e'er so quickly having said 'it only happened the once', I have a few days ago when using the same visa credit card been charged no less than two further £1 fees a well as the item costs...oddly ebay (again) and a company I routinely use also. I am unable to find the charge that was pending and that I originally posted here about and so assume that disappeared as expected, but these two fees have been included in my balance, besides which I dont understand why the bank needs to keep on doing this when A. I use this card all of the time and B: this time both are for companies I buy from often and using the same card. and potentially C: this time looks like I might actually been charged.
This is all exhausting......I will be calling the bank (again) tomorrow to try to discover what is going on here and post again IF I can find out anything further. Last time all I got was obfuscation and not much help atall. 😋 It's almost as if these things are being done purposely to reduce usage or something...hello CBDC ? 🤔

Hey
No mine is a Lloyds Bank Visa Credit Card....I'm not sure if the previous amounts were taken but dont think so, however the two in question currently are still in my pending transactions as very recent....but...I added up all my purchases since my last statement and the 'balance including pending payments' amount is £2 more than it ought to be so has definitely been charged to my account this time. Whether it will be refunded later who knows but this is taking the *bleep* in my book. I dont mind it happening with a new card when you first use it, as used to be the case but this is nuts. This time it happened when purchasing from Holland & Barrett too so it isn't just Ebay and so I have to conclude is the bank. I'm just wondering if it is anything to do with companies who are now based within the EU or their financial transactions are connected in some way with the EU or go through a EU bank. They continue to punish us for trying to get away so it wouldn't surprise me. 🤔 J

How odd ! I tend to use online banking but do get paper statements too. As mentioned I only ever see these £s in the pending section online. They are never visible in my paper statement which is strange in itself.
All very weird and sounds as if nobody ever finds out how or why this is happening. I will have another go tomorrow. 🤔 J
