Credit card details for age verification

Hi.. I'm being asked to give bank/credit details even though I use PayPal. This would be absolute stupidity to make that information public.
And the URL doesn’t even start with www.ebay.co.uk/anything  WHY???
If this is eBay it’s absolute madness and opens buyers to getting scammed.

If you are buying an age restricted item you have to prove you are over 18 and the only method eBay approve is a credit card.
