Hello all,
Who generally would bear responsibility for removing large pieces of furniture from the sellers house?
I have recently collected a few large pieces of furniture and had to carry these out of the house from upstairs by myself.
The original listing did not mention that this would be the case, and I did not feel comfortable with the possibility of damaging the persons house trying to carry a wardrobe etc down the stairs
Just wondering if the seller should have moved this to a more appropriate collection location or it is my responsibility to get it out of the house?
Cheers

Sellers should say in the listing when the item needs to be taken from an upstairs room or has to be dismantled, etc.. But if there's only one of them and they can't manage it the buyer will have little alternative.

No help now, but it's a good idea to check before buying.
Also worth checking if the item can be partly or wholly disassembled.
Also, access e.g. steps. Firms who deliver appliances always ask, which is understandable.
Otherwise it's iffy as there was no contract about it, and there's no standard in contracts either. For instance, I noticed a windows firm, rather unusually but not wholly so, had in its pre-printed contract that risk would pass to me on delivery, so I said I'd like that changed to on installation. Firms don't like to reprint docs, so we agreed to note the change in a letter and a note on the contract referred to the letter. (Just as well, as they dropped one window on delivery. They replaced it at their cost.)

Ignore the 'for instance", not relevant sorry. (Or maybe take note, as you're entitled to amend any contract if the other party agrees.)
