Hello I purchased an Xbox for my young son, hooked it up only to find 1 of the controllers doesn’t work, I messaged the seller and they was rude aswell as telling me to send back the unit for a full refund (which I understand), issue is I don’t want to upset my son by telling him the xbox needs to go back. (Only a parent knows, the heartbreak isn’t worth £20 to replace the controller. I have asked the seller to make an offer for a partial refund which they are refusing to do. Is there anything I can do to remedy this without sending it back ? Thanks

See https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/leaving-feedback-sellers/leaving-feedback-sellers?id=4007
You could try sending them another message saying something like:
as advised by ebay I am trying to work with the seller to resolve any transaction issues before leaving negative feedback.
- and then what you are looking for
They may just ignore you and indeed block you - if you were thinking of buying from them again.
