Auctions still letting in bids after the countdown timer says the auctions have ended

The other day I bid on an auction 4 seconds before the end of the auction and 4 seconds later it said the auction had ended, I assumed I had won as it showed there were no other bidders after me.

I continually update about 3 pages of the same auction to make sure the countdown timers are correct because a few years ago there was an issue where they were completely out of time and everyone was missing the auctions by up to 20 seconds.

Then I found out I had not won the auction so I checked the bidders list and found the winning bid was made 10 seconds AFTER mine. So what's going on now? First the countdown timers were too slow & now they're too fast? Or is ebay fiddling the bids to let late comers outbid us? This has happened at least twice to me now.

This all seems pretty useless for a place that's supposed to specialise in auctions. They never had these issues in their first 20 years of running.

Don't know but I've been seeing the same thing - 2 different timers about a minute apart; for quite a long time - over 6 months for sure.

I had that - it was the computer time out by several seconds that caused the error. Ensured that the computer time was updated regularly and it never happened again.
