Cancelled order pre dispatch. Received e-mail from seller approving refund. Still showing in PH

Bought a bike last night BIN from an official bike shop ebay account. Shop offers a 30 days returns policy. 

Listing showed I bought item. 

Paid using paypal. 

Purchase history showed hour glass and says "payment is being processed". Reason unknown to me. 

Go forward half a day I realise I'd bought the wrong item so request to cancel the order via ebay message with seller. 

I get a direct e-mail to my personal email from the shop's e-mail address showing a refund invoice. 

However Ebay listing still shows I have bought the item. 

Purchase history still shows hourglass and that the original payment is being processed. 

Canceled/returned item area of my account is showing 0 canceled transactions. 

Paypal is still showing original transaction as completed, no sign of refund. 

What has happened here? Basically I requested to cancel an order and the seller appears to have obliged confirming with a direct email but no sign of it on ebay itself, this all happened before my payment was processed. So the question is, has the order really been cancelled?  Where on earth in the chain is the money? When will I get it?

Have you looked in your paypal account, you might find that there is a link to cancel as it still says being processed.

If there is use it as that will be the quick way to get a refund. As the seller will not have the money it is impossible for him to refund.

Thanks John, that was a good suggestion but I couldn't see a way to cancel the payment on paypal.
The order has been cancelled now. For some reason it showed the order as being active for 4 days after it was cancelled. So I was a little concerned it would be dispatched. Maybe there's a lag at the moment. Thank you for your help.
