letterbox sized Item delivered, photo and gps scan. Buyer messages, no case yet

I have a usual sequence of messages I run through, the polite please check photo is your front door, check GPS coordinates are your location etc.

Buyer hasn't responded to the questions, just tells me this happens to him everyone is a scammer.

looking on google maps the GPS coordinates and front door do appear to be correct so my gut instinct is he has the item, its not an unfortunate mishap.

But, checking feedback left for sellers, his is 100% negative.

His latest message is I'm waiting and so I'm wondering how much to engage thinking of suggesting he open a case.

I wondered if anyone has had a non delivered/ tracked delivered case recently, did things get ruled in your favour and could the buyer leave feedback?

Secondly, if no case would feedback now stand if the item tracks as delivered?

We have had many of these cases over the last 35,000 sales, we only send large letter these days and we are yet to lose a case yet when the item is showing as delivered.

I always invite them to open a case so this can be investigated, then add the tracking to the case and pretty much forget about it, we don't bother with back and forth exchanges, it gets you no where.

They can leave a negative but it will be removed on appeal, the same applies if a case is opened the feedback will be removed whether this is positive or negative once the case is closed.

Thank you for the quick response @game_raid.  I don't suppose you've had one in the last few weeks?

I've heard a couple of whispers that things have changed - I'm not sure it should change my behaviour anyway, but its nice to be forewarned.

Last one we had was 12th Feb, open and shut case when we asked them to step in, resolved in less than a few hours.

I haven't seen or heard anything that has changed in regard to how these cases are handled, as long as the tracking has been added and it shows as delivered to the address on the order details you are covered.

We had one in December, claims they have been scammed on their last few orders and all sellers are not to be trusted but they decided to trust us, the best of it, it had been delivered 5 weeks earlier, once this was pointed out in the case messages they closed the case and called us scammers.

We don't get that many these days, one every few months or so we still get the chancers. We may check on Google Maps on the odd occasion just incase it has been misdelivered but we are yet to see one that has.

"But, checking feedback left for sellers, his is 100% negative."

eBay should really take that into account, although it wouldn't be surprising if they don't.

Advise the buyer to open an INR case then block them; that way they can only communicate with you if they actually do open a case. It's almost inevitable that you will receive a negative so just report the buyer for making a false claim when they do pointing out the evidence you have and the feedback they have left for others.

It really does amaze me that eBay doesn't deal with such buyers as punitively as they do most policy-abiding sellers.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
