Don’t you just love some buyers

I just received a best offer of 45% discount on an item priced at £6.  Ok that's one thing but in the comments also asked for a discount on postage   I know things are tight out there but really some people do have a bit of a cheek   I have declined

A good idea would be to block this buyer.

Sadly, that's not that unusual.

I got so fed up of the lowball offers, that I've put reserves on everything.

I think the really low ones tend to be those who are just taking a chance and even if you get the price up and they accept it, they are most likely to be the ones with an issue.  So they tend to be not worth even interacting with most of the time.

Some sellers accept these offers, some reject them and some go back with a counter offer -  it all depends on whether you want to negotiate a discount - some of these offers are made as a starting point to negotiate a lower price - it all depends on the seller and whether there is any wriggle room or not and how much they want shot of the item.

I have zero tolerance for lowball offers because experience tells me they're not serious buyers and they end up being nothing but trouble.

If anyone tries to draw me into negotiating a lower price I block them straight away. Believe me, you do not need these people.

I can definitely beat that one. Sold a motherboard. Customer messaged asking if they can return it.

I said 'Why, is there a problem with it?'

Customer said 'No, I just bought it to test a few bits and now I don't need it anymore'.

I had a lady message me to say she had seen my lovely M&S coat in a size 10. She had it in a size 6.  Would I like to swap. When I politely explained I was a business seller. She said she knew that, but she just thought I might want to do a favour for a stranger.

Funnily enough, I have had exactly the same scenario, only for True Religion jeans.

I had a message 2 days ago from a 'potential' buyer on a BIN.  Just 4 words, no other communication.

'No reply, no offer'

Rude...

Yes exactly. I once helped out a buyer who gave me a real sob story and asked for time to pay. I agreed to a few days but she kept stretching it by giving another excuse. In the end I waited two weeks for payment and when I finally said she needed to pay otherwise I would relist she paid straight away. Fast forward two days and she started to send me very rude messages asking when the items would be posted and followed up by when would she get them another two days after that. I remained polite through all the messages however when the parcel arrived she claimed items were missing and opened as case. She then went quiet even when I communicated with her as to what was missing. I didn't get a response then she escalated it and I ended up losing the case getting a defect and negative feedback.  Unfortunately this left a very bad taste so I'm now very wary of these buyers

I've experienced this both on ebay and on Gumtree before.

Essentially the more you bend over backwards to help someone, the more it
will never be enough for them.

The lesson for me has been that genuine buyers just want the deal on offer
and its only time wasters and energy vampires that give you the sob stories
and try to draw you onto deals that will end up with you being robbed and
them still not satisfied.

I'm quite happy to be blunt (polite but clear), or just plain rude (block
buyer with no reply) when it comes to these people because nothing good
ever comes from coddling them.
