Michael Palin - 9 days

I have a few books signed by MIchael including the 2nd half of his diaries Halfway To Hollywood, plus he was one of my earliest ttms 12 years ago back in March 2000. As such, I was thrilled to find a pristine copy of his first diaries The Python Years in a charity shop for £1, and like the 2nd volume with cd. It's a heavyweight book, so I put together a request making use of £11.40 (there and back) of unmarked stamps. Chuffed to bits to see it back signed today. He's my favourite of the Pythons, but probably more due to Ripping Yarns which I adore.

A friend of mine on another forum was going to the Gillingham v Watford friendly on Tuesday, so he arranged for me to send one of my cards, so he could get Zola to sign it. He managed to do so no probem, and when it arrived today, he had also  included a few signed flyers as a surprise for me - Chas & Dave, Shaun Williamson and Michel Greco. Was not expecting the extras, and especially pleased with Chase & Dave.

I do have a ttm request out to Gianfranco, so if it comes back it will be interesting to see how it looks compared to the ip.

Some great autographs Nigel.Good luck with Zola,I've only had a stamped autograph back from him and never managed to get a genuine signature.

lovely book Nigel im sure it will sit very nicely in your collection..good of your friend to get you zola and throw in some extra's too..the ttm will certainly be interesting anyway if he replies to you as he stamped via westham and there were a few secs via chelsea I believe too, although with how nice he is in person im assuming the mail at those 2 clubs never reached him so hopefully with watford we see some authentic replies but if not my boys Bolton have them at the reebok 3rd home game so I can attempt then 🙂

Thanks for the info about Zola ttms chaps. I am glad my friend got my card signed ip now.

Watford are hit & miss with ttms anyway. I find a lot does not come back. I have a better success record with players who have left the club.

Smashing Palin result mate, like you he is my fav python too. Costly ttm, but well worth it my friend:)

That's just it Paul, it may appear a costly ttm, but it was not. I used unmarked stamps from previous requests, and the book only cost £1, so total outlay = £1. 🙂

Absolutely fantastic reply Nigel. Always liked Michael Palin as he was the Yorkshire Python - will have to send something to him and Terry Jones eventually (might need to ask on here for help with the addresses) . Really great of your friend to send the extras and the card.

Michael Palin has always been my fav Python and I really must write to him. Really nice of your friend to get Zola for you, Nigel and the additional items are a lovely surprise.

Love the book Nigel, I saw that edition last week for a £1 and was tempted with a TTM request.
