Packaging Advice

Hi guys

In the absence of any successes this month yet and after seeing some of the stunning signed shirts on the forum I've recently bought a 66 jersey to try and send out - I've never sent a shirt before so I was looking for some advice on packaging and posting

I assume you continue to send an SSAE as with other requets, but do you send a padded envelope for protection and how much postage do you put on it ?

Do you then put the shirt, the letter and the SSAE inside an even bigger envelope or inside one of those plastic mailer bags ?

Finally do you send it standard postage or recorded or anything like that ?

I know, so many questions, I'm sorry but I would like to get into the signed shirt collection and everybody has to start somewhere

Thanks

Hi Mal,

I do a lot of books and shirts TTM. Poundland/Poundworld do padded envelopes around 365mm x 280mm, usually 3 or 4 for a £1. These are ideal. Then it's all in the weight mate, up to 1kg for £3.20 first class or £2.80 second class. sometimes 2 shirts or a shirt and a book for the same price as one shirt depends on your nerves ..he who dares I say. I always add thesame sized stamped envelope inside the first envelope with the letter and items to be signed. I did send my England shirt out a couple of times recorded delivery and requested it back the same way adding enough cash to cover it. Fold the shirt neatly and it fits with no problems.

Shirt went with book on this occasion. Same envelope size as I mentioned. Same  price as single shirt.

Alex has more or less covered it but all I do is get 2 mailing bags the same size one there with postage on and the address etc and the 2nd one with my address folded in half with stamps on, usually use mailing bags a few inches bigger than A4 just depends on what your shops stock I guess. As for prices usually I package the whole lot up and just tuck the flap bit inside so its not sealed and ask at the post office how much it costs then get the s.a.s.e out stick that amount on for the return then seal the mailing bag properly. to be honest though I do more shirts than books so mailing bags are fine for shirts and have for me always offered enough protection for books thought id use bubble padded envelopes and usually send everything standard postage unless it was fairly valuable but to me as long as something can be replaced to me its worth a gamble ttming it knowing if it gets nicked/lost I can soon start again however the gamble would be down to you if its something your not prepared to lose its weather you want to gamble or not, hope this helps a bit.
