Mike Denness is a Scotsman who played County cricket for Essex and Kent and Test cricket for England. Mike played 501 first class matches during a career that started in 1959 with Scotland and finished in 1980 with Essex. He scored 25,886 runs at an average of 33.48. He made 33 hundreds and 152 fifties. His highest score was 195. He also took 410 catches. Mike played 28 tests for England between 1969 and 1975, of which 19 were as Captain. He scored 1,667 runs with a highest score of 188. He made 4 hundreds and 7 fifties, also taking 28 catches. He made his test debut against New Zealand on 21 Aug 1969 and played his last against Australia on 14 July 1975. He also played 12 ODI's, scoring 264 runs with a highest score of 66.
